(In)Sanity
Inspiration
I read an academic paper entitled On Being Sane in Insane Places in which a number of sane people, amongst them medical and psychiatric professionals, admitted themselves to psychiatric hospitals, presenting a number of fake symptoms. The pseudopatients upon admission were to cease simulating syptoms of abnormality. The test was then to tell how quickyly they would be spotted as "sane".
They were never detected. Indeed, the only people who ever challenged the pseudopatients, who spotted that they did not belong, were the insane themselves...
The story
When your family, your doctors, everyone believes that you are insane, how do you prove them wrong? One woman struggles to prove that sanity is just a state of mind, and that sometimes the unexplained really does happen.
