Half a Day Hence

Inspiration

Half a Day Hence is the new working title of the first story I began seriously working on. It started life as a collection of semi-autobiographical notes about the unusual things that have happened to me since arriving in London, which is very self-indulgent, and quite uninteresting when you get down to it. Unless you have achieved great things in your life, your own life is only of interest to yourself.

It has since become something radically different. There is a strong narrative plot to hang the individual anecdotes on, and discussions with other writers have been enormously useful, resulting in something that is now highly stylised and fictional.

The book

Sometimes, life does not turn out as you want. You fail to get the job you want. You fail to live the life you want. You fail to win the woman you love. And then things go really wrong. You live your life for an uncertain future, and your dreams are half a day and half a world away - but it could be worse. It could be Monday.

Current status

I am taking a break from this one - The Long Watch has proven to be more popular, and I'm concentrating on that story for the moment.
