I have been busy
You’ll have seen on my previous post that I’ve been a little busy of late. After eight months of work, The Yin and Yang Books have been finished and are available for sale now. And I’ve been so focused on that, I’ve not really had time to mention other things that are important to me.
In the past few weeks and months since I last posted there have been some very sad times. Dooya, the wonderful little leopard gecko who has been my companion throughout my unemployment, and who has been the focal point of Julia and my evenings, died suddenly almost two weeks ago. She had been ill for a while, but nobody, not even the vets, were expecting her to go, as she seemed so full of strength and so healthy. We’re devastated by this, and though she was a quiet little thing, the house seems silent without her.
But it hasn’t all been bad news. At the start of September, whilst running through the final bits and pieces for the anthology, I heard that Greg McQueen, the creator and driving force behind 100 Stories for Haiti had been so moved by the devastation suffered by Pakistan in the July floods, he decided that something needed to be done, and so announced 50 Stories for Pakistan.
He asked for submissions, and so I sent in a story. And was stunned to find out that I had made the long list of stories. I was doubly stunned a short time later to discover that my short story Writing to Reach You had made the short list and would be published in the anthology.
So there you go. By the end of 2010, I will have been published in five anthologies, and edited four of them.
Not too bad for a year’s work.
