Give me all your money!
Or at the very lest some of your money…
On October 10th this year I will be running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon to raise funds and awareness for Mind.
Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales, and one of the charities behind the Time to Change campaign, a series of projects aiming to end discrimination in all walks of life faced by those with mental health problems from all walks of life.
The half-marathon also coincides with Time to Get Moving, a week-long series of events organised by Time to Change which promote better mental wellbeing through exercise, and to help end the stigma of mental illness by encouraging socialising between those with and without mental illness.
I have set a fundraising target of £500. That’s £38.46 for every mile, or £23.81 for every kilometre I’ll be running. I know that the economy is still in the doldrums, but imagine how much worse it is for someone who has a mental illness and finds employers are unwilling to take them on because of their illness?
1 in 4 people in the United Kingdom will be affected by mental health problems in their life. If you read this blog, then you already know someone who is 1 in 4.
If you can, please visit my sponsorship page and give generously. If you are a UK taxpayer then please remember to fill out the Gift Aid form, this will allow Mind to reclaim the tax paid on the donation, and is worth an additional 25p in every pound.
