The hot new genre for 2009!

Following on from my earlier post about what writers talk about, I do feel that infant horror is going to be the break out genre for 2009.

Just imagine the titles…

The Very Hungry ZombieOn Monday he ate a brain – but he was still hungry. On Tuesday he ate TWO brains. And he was STILL hungry!

That’s Not My Great Old OneThat’s not my Great Old One. His colour is out of space. That’s not my Great Old One. His ichor is too runny. THAT’S my Great Old One. His presence inspires insanity! Fhtagn!

The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Thing Lurking in the DarkPlop is a baby owl. Perfect in every way – except for one. He’s afraid of the thing lurking in the dark. He soon discovers, through a variety of scary encounters, that he was quite right to be terrified…

The Haunted House at Pooh CornerOne day when Pooh Bear had nothing else to do, he went round to Piglet’s house to see what Piglet was doing. He expected to find Piglet warming his toes in front of his fire, but to his surprise he saw that the door was open, and only parts of Piglet were there…

Snow White and the Seven DemonsMirror, mirror, on the wall. Who in the land is most damned of all? Queen, you are accursed, ’tis true, but demons torment Snow White, not you.

Spot Summons Hasturmischievous fun ensues when Spot finds an ancient book and calls He Who Is Not To Be Named into this reality…

Who wouldn’t want to read these at bedtime?

  1. I think I need co-author acknowledgement (in very small, grey letters at the bottom of the cover) for the Very Hungry Zombie…

  2. You are truly bent Paul – love it.

Dylan loves books in the series called ‘How do Dinosaurs’ … thought you could transpose it into “How do zombies eat their food?” “How do zombies go to to bed?” “How do zombies go to school”

And I thought a whole new series of Mr Men and Little Miss books … there must be a whole array of foul and nasty characteristics they could be embued with.

And in terms of The Very Hungry Zombie – I think he’d have to be antomically correct .. on Monday he ate through one amygdala – but he was stil hungry, on tuesday he ate through two occipital lobes, but he was still hungry … can’t wait to see the smorgasboard for Saturday!
